Welcome to the Pahrump SNAPS website. SNAPS is a non-profit group that helps animals in Pahrump, NV.
Our group provides low/no cost spay & neuter services and shot clinics for members of the community who otherwise could not afford these services.
At this time approximately 100 cats and dogs are being spayed and neutered each month in Pahrump, NV through the SNAPS program.
We also operate a Feral and stray program in order to help control the population of unwanted pets within the community of Pahrump. In addition, we offer a pet food share program.
We are not a "rescue" group and we do not operate a "sanctuary" program.
Our food share program provides pet food for individuals that could not otherwise feed and care for their pets. We are in desperate need of cat food at this time. Food can be dropped off at D is For Dog (2200 Calvada Ave) or contact SNAPS at 775-751-2088.

SNAPS Feral program - We assist with trapping, neutering and releasing stray and feral cats. Volunteers delivered traps, instruction/ or assist with trapping, cats are transported to Nye County Animal Shelter Clinic for neutering, vaccinations, treated for parasites, wounds and returned for release. - This program is no-charge.
We need your help! Did you know that one unaltered female, and her mate, and all their off-spring can result in over 100,000 cats in just a few years? |
Studies have proven that trap-neuter-release is the single most successful method of stabilizing and maintaining healthy feral cat colonies with the least possible cost to local governments and residents, while providing the best life for the animals themselves.
- Spaying/neutering homeless cats:
- Stabilizes the population at manageable levels
- Eliminates annoying behaviors associated with mating
- Is humane to the animals and fosters compassion in the neighborhoods
- Is more effective and less costly than repeated attempts at extermination --- costs for repeatedly trapping and killing feral colonies are far higher than promoting stable, non-breeding colonies in the same location. Vacated areas are soon filled by other cats who start the breeding process over again
How can you be a part of the solution?
Spay or neuter your own pet! Sterilizing animals is an important step in maintaining their good health.
Bring strays to a low cost clinic. The Nye County Animal Shelter provides low cost vouchers if you can afford to spay and neuter your pets. If you can not,
we can provide humane traps ( with instructions ). Call the number below for information---but please be patient---we often have a waiting list for traps, and limited funds.
Become a volunteer and encourage your personal veterinarian to become involved!
Tell people about the SNAPS Program! If someone you know is caring for stray or unowned cats or dogs let them know about our services. Education is the key, so make others aware of the feral cat problem and tell them how they can help. |
